i-Flapp!

As the company puts it "Intelligent Flash Application is the next step in the direction of Application Mobility Technology".

Well this innovative idea is mainly used for people who shuttle between two rival operating system and prefer to trade in a selected operating system.Memory cards, flash drives, pen drive,hard drives,.et al.

I first came across this technology when people were struggling with the hanging nature of windows OS,unfriendly nature(general perception,not mine thou) of Mac OS and less popularity friendly nature of Linux OS and Unix OS. This software effortlessly can switch OSes(plural of OS,i think!).The installed files however need to be checked before they can be used.

The desktop background with icons, your favourite browser, files, etc will all be the same with respect to the space available in the storage device. It also specifies the amount of space occupied/available in the storage device. The RAM occupied on the computer on which it is running is also considerably low to toggle the different OS simultaneously.

Earlier, I had made sure that I had the same OS(Windows xp) everywhere i.e @ home,office, laptops,etc. But now with this software I can look to switch between the OSes with ease.

Only technologies that are updated regularly survive,rest just trickle away.So I hope the makers regularly upgrade and update so that it leaves no stone unturned in the success of this!

These words re too big to do it constantly(or regularly) aren' they?

Today we live in a society wher politicians woo the public for votes and after votes re given by the public,the governments play see-saw in the eyes of public.Ther isn' a party which ppl can trust or ppl can expect some steps which can change our futures along with our present.The belief in the eyes of public which not only entrusts it life(watever is left) on the ruling party (we Indians only expect for things to change n it applies to me too).But when some1 tries to change the fuckin system the person is either killed or has to bear the brunt of being called a deshdrohi or various other torturous methods( any examples?)

"Even though there may be no law mandating that everyone polls, the youth should not consider voting only as a right but a duty as well"...

The media has so much of junk news that even if they re streaming an interview with a killer or a terrorist on their channels,the Police wont even be near to the konvict(or rather the police have a commission in it?).Its strange but the truth!..

Off-late!..ther 've been some noises abt Police reforms.I think its a good initiative but the central government shud be takin such initiatives otherwise our uncommon honest policemen will keep losing their lives(any1 listening?).. Ther was talk of terror laws bein strengthened n providin adequate security in major cities.Til some point this being put into place but govt. shud keep in mind that the lives of citizens of this Great country re not cheap.

Ther have been many disasters by govts(be it state or central)..some have been moral policin disasters or some have been disgraceful for the nature of behaviour towards upcomin youth in sports).. be it givin highly honoured Padma Shri award to Harbhajan Singh(who disgraced the nation by slappin his own teammate) instead of giving it to the Olympians who won bronze medals(Vijender Singh and Sushil Kumar) and made our country proud.. or be it slammin the pub culture in the City of pubs(B'lore) by our CM who insists on drinkin milk instead of beer but still the revenue got from liquor sales in B'lore is far more than revenues from other sources.!

I say enough is enough!.. Let us be it!...

I agree its a democracy!(some1 is sad and some1 is rejoicin)...but the %age of ppl who re happy shud be more than ppl who re sad!(tat doesn make any sense so jus ignore this statement and move on!)..

Heady Feelin'

Coffee replaces wine on St.Marks Road! A fortnight after it had been launched me and my frnds stepped inside the Hard Rock Cafe and stood still soaking in the memorabilia around us.We got a bit cramped feelin as we scanned through the ambience. Jus after the counter(where some chink ladies were takin names of the ppl as it was a weekend evenin and ppl were pourin in like hell) there was a Rock Shop with kinds of souveniors like little guitar chains and band T-shirts were on sale!..It was a good feelin..
They've used the space without damagin the heritage buildin. What was once a coffee shop(Barista) is now a place where ppl eat and drink with classic rock music played in vicinity. At the entrance itself there was essence of 'namma bengaluru' as the hoardin read "Hard Rock Cafe-BENGALURU".And as we scanned thru the food menu we saw found local delicacies to add some value to the joint.
We had to wait for half an hour to get seated since crowd was increasin on that weekend evenin. We had been seated in such a place near the display cases of autographed bass drumhead used by Black Sabbath's Bobby Rondinelli above our table and we cud also see some pink floyd stuff too! For a place dedicated to great music,the music sucks! The music is really loosely defined since the acoustics are not consistent throughout, because of stone walls and high ceilings.
We ordered the most unregular stuff that most college students (due to the absence of bank balance in their wallets) as we had a bit of cash so we were like lets try it!..And if anybody wants to come here alone it can be tad expensive.This is one of the cafes which you cud go once in a month or two!..
All in all it was a great experience!
Rest apart, holidays re comin to an end and it was great vacation!

Breathtakin stuff

"Oh fuck!.. wht da heck this bumper is really dangerous!..You were almost killed dude!.. and this bike is thrashed too!OMG!.. this is huge!"..Yeah that was my expression wen one of my frnds had met wid an accident which-cud-have-been-serious on a road trip to Maddur Coffee Day at 4am!.. This trip was the idea of my fnds!. we all agreed!.. I woke up at 3 in mornin thanks to unlimited phone calls made by my best pal so tht i do come 'em!.. So i woke up changed my clothes and put on a crisp wind-shutter(otherwise wud ve frozen to death!) and got on the road to brigade!.. Ther wer other fleet of frnds from da hostel(some juniors too..) who were waitin jus 4 me(man! i felt like a VIP!).. We exchanged some salutations n hit the road!..we were goin to Coffee Day on Mysore road whch is 80kms from the City!(For jus adventure sake n not to hav coffee!)..We had 4bikes includin mine n 8ppl!.. So we hit the road and we were soon on Mysore Road through S.P.rd flyover.. Occansionly we stopped for some nature calls or other stuff!.. So a CCD had come but t'was still in the makin(or renovatin we thought)..then a guy came n told the CCD was further ahead!relief!.. And started headin towards tht CCD which was around 4-5 kms from tht place.. Now as we near the CCD.. The guys in front of me had a Pulsar wid bad head lights(i don think t'was workin!) and a curve had come... and this suddenly jus jumped in the air n there was this truck which was on the right of him.. The truck nearly chipped the bike and no sooner those guys were on the road near the pavement divider..
Ghosh!I was jus behind 'em wid one of the juniors.. and the Pulsar guy n his co-rider were on the road!.. Oh fuck!..I myself had hiccup on the bumper which in fact discussed by us durin our stoppage as one of frns frnd had told!.. so the guys behind too were in state of shock at the bumper(no reflectors n no sign boards).. I sudden rushed to the guys fallen!.. This guy's helment was thrown in the opposite and this guy had hit himself on the pavement.. the co-rider fell on the middle road and got up as soon as he was the truck!OMG he was saved!(Guess what these guys had plans for drink n drive).. The guy sittin behind was sleepy nut case(I thot he was doped!) din spot this accident!.. Everyone stopped and took look at self-victims n thot thnk God they re saved!.. The rider had got bruises and a got torn pull-over and co-rider was fine wid a torn jacket.. T'was tht time of the night when wind was hard n roads were slippery.. We had our moments n we moved on n reached the CCD at dawn!.. We all strted diagonsin the wounds n the damage to bike!.. well t'was his frnds bike so he was apprehensive abt it!... And got up in n ordered our coffees n some snacks!.. we all had a nap and were explorin why ppl come so far jus to hav a coffee!.. Well we reasoned out t'was jus abt gals at nite at these places and "jungle mein mangal" sort of things!..Had some hot coffee which gave some warmth to my numb hands n watched the tv fitted there and set out at 7:15 back home!.. We were on our and sun was takin its position which was really soothin!.. suddenly as we were half way our journey some noises came out of my bike!..Grrr!.. wat da heck these bike services never do a decent job or do they?.. then bike suddenly got to halt n i rammed in into a calf thanks to some imbalance and cows wanderin on the highway.. "Oh shit!petrol is over OMG i shud kill myself for negligence",i thot.Wel i checked the petrol earlier t'was there but now t'was over thnx to some leakage.then i opened my bike and did some mechanic work like connected leakge pipe properly and my frnd got petrol from the nearest petrol bunk!Yeah bike started at last!.. Every1 were relieved and we set out home!.. There were no other casualities on our way!.. Every1 were happy to be back in the city!..
My 3rd sem xams had finally got over last week!..And as usual 'm havin a ball durin these holidays!.. Thinkin of doin somethin productive, so til then Sayonara!

Metal gods re rainin in India

hola! The metal gods are comin around once again!.. IRON MAIDEN comin to Mumbai on Feb 1st '08..
And The ROCK IN INDIA tour of MEGADETH(so eager to watch 'em perform live!..is this a dream!!) and with them will be performing Machine Head in Bengaluru on 14th Mar '08... Its surely gonna be a Headbangers' Ball!.. India is already becomin a Rock Destination for many bands as there many takers...
The Last Maiden concert in Benagluru on 18th Mar '07 generated loads of interest in minds of many famous metal bands as ther was a huge crowd of around 20,000 ppl!..I jus hope I get the maiden stick again or for that matter Dave Mustaine's throw away somethin!(hopin against hope!)... And not to be left Aerosmith had also generated nice crowd!..
And hey!.. the End Sems re around the corner and guess wat?(no good news this..poutin!!..) exams wil be goin on 1st Jan too .. tats how sucky VTU gets!.. have to manage engineerin out!(no other way!).. Wel electrical is thoughest though!(i hope i pass).. Tats how life is!..

Hey ppl!.. 2nd exams are done and rite now 'm on a trip to North India... college vacation is of around 3weeks and this plan was of around 20days!... I had been to delhi.. New Delhi, the capital city of India... looks like just another city when you first come here.. but delhi is known for its ppl for all wrong reasons... that apart delhi is good place to be in(includin chicks!).. Metro Rail is a gr8 boost to this capital city and is an able public transport system, it will take another 5 years for metro rail to complete in B'lore(Tht's a huge time considerin b'lore's horrible traffic problems)..There is a saying in Hindi "Delhi dilwalaon ki hoti hai".. but its not really true these days.. Delhi region is hub for businessmen and they kill anybody for their livelyhood...

hola!first happy b'day to me!!.. yeah yeah!it was a rollercoasterric pscycotic day(dunno wat tht means)!!!... I shud get an award for the drama! #$%^. well it was the most dramatic b'day of my life til now considerin i turned 18(an adult)... It will remembered down the memory lane for all wrong reasons... (slap slap)!..
As I step into adulthood this world wants me to get lost in the world but nevertheless I am to be blamed for it!I shud kick myself,as every1 did kick me as part of b'day bumps(ouch! i needed that but stil ouch!)..As I write this I am elligible for adulthood age(blah blah blah!!..).. Never will forget my 18th b'day..
'm probably the last person in my frnds(born in '88) to turn 18.The world is wide open to me.No one is responsible for my doing but for me.. This incident reminds me of the dramatic twists coming ahead in my life(i think 'm becomin a thinker).. Ther will be ups n downs and probably more downs ahead.. but for now lets see!!...

For some or the other reason i was busy either internals(they were this time) or an outing.
Wel I had a coupla hindi movies DON & Janemann.Don was ok timepass and Janemann was bad,by the time one song finished the other has already strtd but some comedy was fine(thanks to akshay n salman). We(me n ma group) are healthy rock lovers.We were tinkn of strtin a rock band.We thot da name also "The Wounded Dementors".I am da drummer(wel 'm learnin it soon by a senior).The bst place for listenin to rock music n havin a mug of beer is STYX(the other day DJ played cool metallica n iron maiden tracks).Gr8 music!
Movies to watch out for:
1.The Departed:Wel I wanted to see it.Ma frnds are sayin its good.

Hey ppl! Its been long time since ive blogged(fact tht I blog very less!,ok here it goes)..Nevertheless now ive moved onto engineering in BIT(electrical & electronics)..College is fun!from fresher parties,hanging around with new frnds and attendin borin lecturez et al!(includin bunkin loadsa classes).Its fun!..college has no campus watsoever(Kempegowda!) but the crowd is fine!.. Wats more 'm in BIT college football team(but there is no ground to play in BIT).. Freshers were amazin!.. we had two freshers one is college freshers and one is branch freshers n i think branch freshers was more rockin!!..
Future plans?
Dunno where 'm goin.. engg is jus a degree which i wanted and there's no special interest in it!.. Well jus lookin back at my Ist internals i think engg is a tough task, never mind will try my best and give it a shot... ok guys i cant think of anythin else right now.. catchya'll l8r.

Brazil-Ghana
Ronaldo recaptured his scoring touch and Brazil came from behind to beat Japan 4-1 on Thursday at to last show signs why it was a longtime favorite. Ronaldo is now tied with former German great Gerd Mueller for the most goals in World Cup history with 14 and could go past him by hitting the target against upstart Ghana.
The Ghanaians have earned their place in the second round but, with Chelsea star Michael Essien suspended for the game, won't go any further.
Prediction: Brazil 4, Ghana 0.

Argentina-Mexico
The fact Argentina was held 0-0 by the Netherlands in group play Wednesday disguised the truth that Jose Pekerman's players totally outplayed the Dutch for most of the game after he had rested five regulars.
Pekerman will recall Javier Saviola and Hernan Crespo to start the game, with Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez coming off the bench. That means the Mexicans likely will face the players who crushed Serbia-Montenegro 6-0 as Argentina takes another step toward the final.

We are born to do something and not just die without anything behind us.There are many issues which humans make it more and more complex for no reason.I would like to tell a phrase "Desire is something which drives you towards success but if you get failure in way dont be disheartened bcoz failure is not far away from success if you have desire".
Well there are many success stories in this world but nobody writes about failures.Why?
Bcoz it is bad on the part of the person?
This world doesn accept those who fail.There are many instances but I think 'm better off not going into all that..
Well that's how the world is..

As the Football World Cup kicks off everyone is 'xcited abt it. I think England has very good chances of winning this World Cup with Star Player Rooney coming in the squad after having a metatarsal injury.Other players like Frank Lampard,Beckham,Joe Cole,Steven Gerrad and Ashley Cole are also good.
Brazil has always been a strong team.With likes of Ronaldinho(Voted best player of the year, last year,Ronaldo of course,Robinho and our very own Kaka which makes them a favourites.Let see if they can defend they're champion title or not.
The next team on my list would be Germany.They reached the finals of last FIFA World Cup and also being the hosts of this edition of World Cup.It would be a good competetion.
This time around thanking god that I ve any of those exams.Its a perfect time for me to hang out with frnds and enjoy a good game of soccer.
There ve been many upsets in previous World Cups.African teams ve come up and ve shown their talents.Teams like Ivory Coast ve a good chance of getting into 2nd round or more(who knows?).
Teams like Argentina,Netherlands,France and Italy ve something to prove that they can be dangerous.
The World Cup opening ceremony was amzing with famous dancers and singers of Germany performing in front of crowd of strenght around a lakh so.

This World Cup will last for 1 month,June 9th to July 9th with 64 EXICITING games to be seen.

This is my first post about my personal life. It just happened that blog had things like jokes and ipod accessories and nothin abt my personal life.
Last week was ups and downs for me..
To start with 11th dec.. Yes it was my birthday..I was really happy that day(Considering the changes that were happenin in my life)..I turned 17 on that day.. Life will be tougher as i grow up...I would like to thank my college frnds who came in my b'day party..
My so-called lov life sucks( I don care bout it now coz i know someone is always there for me frnds,family,etc..) .. Can u not talk to ur best frnd a whole week, thats wat happened to me..
My college is sick( everyone knows that and probably i hear that atleast 100 times a day)
These days i'm busy ,don think i'm studyin too much ,i'm jus pretending to study with JEE exam comin after 110 days(i think i'm jobless to count that much)..
New year is comin up.. I think i should hav a blast and be serious the next 4-5 months...
I hav proposed a holiday trip ( oh i miss goa a lot!!!) to somewhere outside bangalore.. let us see if my parents agree and most importantly get reservations in hotels or resorts there..
My ambitions in life are way too many.. I would like to share a few :

1.Do textile engineering and get into father's business,actually thats not really an ambition but still(coz a degree makes a person important)...
2.I am really interested in doin AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING.. I want to design an aircraft which is different from other aircrafts in whole world, it will be a uphill task considerin my father wont allow me to do that and of course if i don get thru JEE exam...
3.Get into Politics and kick every politician's ass,first would be Gowda but probably he'll die when i'll get into this arena.. Politics because i want the people be to free and i want INDIA on track to become a rich and developed country..
4.Do BBM or Bcom and join father's business.. This ambition not gonna be done i guess..
5.Become the richest person in the world to help poor in our country(I know is not gonna happen but who cares a dream is a dream..)
6.To become military officer and fight for the country..I don like ppl who insult my country..
7.Become a DJ .. I lov listenin to music.. I hav some experience of mixing songs coz i hav a software called EEJAY.. There are many softwares like that..
I think i'd rather stop telling bout my ambitions coz they are way too much..

Cricket is the most happenin this season coz INDIA hav won series against top two teams.. The tough series is coming up against our so called friendly neighbours, PAKISTAN..
Watch out for them..

Thing of Genius! Words can't describe how amazing this new product is. IPOD NANO! You might think that I am someone that has bought this product yesterday and don't know how garbage this is. Wrong! I bought it on the first day when it came out and it never lost my approval. Firstly, people say that it is so small that it can break easily. This is the most durable music product that I have ever owned. I dropped it from my head to the floor and from the shelf twice. It still works and looks beautiful. People get angry when this thing is scratched. What I disapproved is the lacking of a charger. You could charge it on the usb port which I do. So i leave the computer on for around four hour’s. The size is amazing. It is so portable that I can listen to it all day, which I do. The screen is crisp and clear, comparing to my cell phone with the same size. The headphones are great but get a bit distorted while playing loud. I have 350 songs on it at this moment, but I would recommend getting the 4 gb. I am returning mine for the 4 gb. The original ipod cost the same much with 20gb but I'm sticking with the Nano.

nice little thingipod minis are really neat and cute. they're also small and fit in my pocket, as well as being relatively lightweight. i like the way they come in a variety of colors because it makes them much more interesting than if they were just plain white. the sound quality is decent and i can hear my music just fine, even when the volume is turned down. i like the way i'm able to organize my songs and create different playlists made up of certain songs. it's very costly to purchase songs from itunes, though, and the battery life could be better. mine is the older version and is meant to have a battery life of 8 hours. i skip around a lot and battery life for me is more like 4 or 5 hours. overall, the ipod mini is a decent mp3 player, if thats what you would call it. There was this young man, on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. It was wonderful, the experience of his life. But, it did not last. A Hurricane came up unexpectedly. The ship went down almost instantly.
The man found himself swept up on the shore of an island. There was nothing else anywhere to be seen. No person, no supplies, nothing. The man looked around. There were some bananas and coconuts, but that was it. He was desperate, and forlorn, but decided to make the best of it. So for the next four months he ate bananas, drank coconut juice and mostly looked to the sea mightily for a ship to come to his rescue.
One day, from around the corner of the island came a rowboat. In it was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen, or at least seen in four months. She was tall, tanned, and her blond hair flowing in the sea breeze gave her an almost ethereal quality. She rowed her boat towards him.

But, enough of that, where do you live?"
At last the man was forced to confess that he had been sleeping on the beach."Well, let's row over to my place", she said. So they both got into the rowboat and left for her side of island.
The woman easily rowed them around to a wharf that led to the approach to her place. She tied up the rowboat with a beautifully woven hemp rope. They walked up a stone walk and around a Palm tree, there stood an exquisite bungalow painted in blue and white.
"It's not much," she said, "but I call it home. Would you like to have a drink?""No," said the man, "one more coconut juice and I will puke.""It won't be coconut juice," the woman replied. "I have a still, how about a Pina Colada?" Trying to hide his continued amazement, the man accepted, and they sat down on her couch to talk.
After a while, and they had exchanged their stories, the woman asked, "Tell me, have you always had a beard?""No", the man replied, "I was clean shaven all of my life, and even on the cruise ship"."Well, if you would like to shave, there is a man's razor upstairs in the cabinet in the bathroom."
The man, no longer questioning anything, went upstairs to the bath room. There in the cabinet was a razor made from a bone handle, two shells honed to a hollow ground edge were fastened on to its end inside of a swivel mechanism. The man shaved, showered and went back down stairs.
"You look great," said the woman. "I think I will go up and slip into something more comfortable." After a short time, she returned wearing fig leafs strategically positioned and smelling faintly of gardenia.
"Tell me," she asked, "we have both been out here for a very long time with no companionship. You know what I mean. Have you been lonely, is there anything that you really miss? Something that all men and woman need. Something that it would be really nice to have right now."
"Yes there is," the man replied, as he moved closer to the woman while fixing a winsome gaze upon her, "You mean you actually figured out some way to make an Internet connection?"

Allegedly, in the fall of 1943 a U.S. Navy destroyer was made invisible and teleported from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Norfolk, Virginia, in an incident known as the Philadelphia Experiment. Records in the Operational Archives Branch of the Naval Historical Center have been repeatedly searched, but no documents have been located which confirm the event, or any interest by the Navy in attempting such an achievement.
The ship involved in the experiment was supposedly the USS Eldridge. Operational Archives has reviewed the deck log and war diary from Eldridge's commissioning on 27 August 1943 at the New York Navy Yard through December 1943. The following description of Eldridge's activities are summarized from the ship's war diary. After commissioning, Eldridge remained in New York and in the Long Island Sound until 16 September when it sailed to Bermuda. From 18 September, the ship was in the vicinity of Bermuda undergoing training and sea trials until 15 October when Eldridge left in a convoy for New York where the convoy entered on 18 October. Eldridge remained in New York harbor until 1 November when it was part of the escort for Convoy UGS-23 (New York Section). On 2 November the convoy entered Naval Operating Base, Norfolk. On 3 November, Eldridge and Convoy UGS-23 left for Casablanca where it arrived on 22 November. On 29 November, Eldridge left as one of escorts for Convoy GUS-22 and arrived with the convoy on 17 December at New York harbor. Eldridge remained in New York on availability training and in Block Island Sound until 31 December when it steamed to Norfolk with four other ships. During this time frame, Eldridge was never in Philadelphia.
Eldridge's complete World War II action report and war diary coverage, including the remarks section of the 1943 deck log, is available on microfilm, NRS-1978-26. The cost of a duplicate film is indicated on the fee schedule. To order a duplicate film, please complete the duplication order form and send a check or money order for the correct amount as indicated on the NHC fee schedule, made payable to the Department of the Navy, to the Operational Archives, at the above address.
Supposedly, the crew of the civilian merchant ship SS Andrew Furuseth observed the arrival via teleportation of the Eldridge into the Norfolk area. Andrew Furuseth's movement report cards are in the Tenth Fleet records in the custody of the Modern Military Branch, National Archives and Records Admnistration, (8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD 20740-6001), which also has custody of the action reports, war diaries and deck logs of all World War II Navy ships, including Eldridge. The movement report cards list the merchant ship's ports of call, the dates of the visit, and convoy designation, if any. The movement report card shows that Andrew Furuseth left Norfolk with Convoy UGS-15 on 16 August 1943 and arrived at Casablanca on 2 September. The ship left Casablanca on 19 September and arrived off Cape Henry on 4 October. Andrew Furuseth left Norfolk with Convoy UGS-22 on 25 October and arrived at Oran on 12 November. The ship remained in the Mediterranean until it returned with Convoy GUS-25 to Hampton Roads on 17 January 1944. The Archives has a letter from Lieutenant Junior Grade William S. Dodge, USNR, (Ret.), the Master of Andrew Furuseth in 1943, categorically denying that he or his crew observed any unusual event while in Norfolk. Eldridge and Andrew Furuseth were not even in Norfolk at the same time.
The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has stated that the use of force fields to make a ship and her crew invisible does not conform to known physical laws. ONR also claims that Dr. Albert Einstein's Unified Field Theory was never completed. During 1943-1944, Einstein was a part-time consultant with the Navy's Bureau of Ordnance, undertaking theoretical research on explosives and explosions. There is no indication that Einstein was involved in research relevant to invisibility or to teleportation. ONR's information sheet on the Philadelphia Experiment is attached.
The Philadelphia Experiment has also been called "Project Rainbow." A comprehensive search of the Archives has failed to identify records of a Project Rainbow relating to teleportation or making a ship disappear. In the 1940s, the code name RAINBOW was used to refer to the Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis. The RAINBOW plans were the war plans to defeat Italy, Germany and Japan. RAINBOW V, the plan in effect on 7 December 1941 when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, was the plan the U.S. used to fight the Axis powers.
Some researchers have erroneously concluded that degaussing has a connection with making an object invisible. Degaussing is a process in which a system of electrical cables are installed around the circumference of ship's hull, running from bow to stern on both sides. A measured electrical current is passed through these cables to cancel out the ship's magnetic field. Degaussing equipment was installed in the hull of Navy ships and could be turned on whenever the ship was in waters that might contain magnetic mines, usually shallow waters in combat areas. It could be said that degaussing, correctly done, makes a ship "invisible" to the sensors of magnetic mines, but the ship remains visible to the human eye, radar, and underwater listening devices.
After many years of searching, the staff of the Operational Archives and independent researchers have not located any official documents that support the assertion that an invisibility or teleportation experiment involving a Navy ship occurred at Philadelphia or any other location.

The boxing saga "Million Dollar Baby" was the Academy Awards heavyweight Sunday, claiming best picture and three other trophies, including honors for director Clint Eastwood, lead actress Hilary Swank and supporting actor Morgan Freeman.
The night meant more heartbreak for director Martin Scorsese. His Howard Hughes bio "The Aviator" came away with the most Oscars -- five, including the supporting actress prize for Cate Blanchett -- but Scorsese lost the directing race for the fifth time.
Scorsese matched the record of Oscar futility held by a handful of legendary filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock and Robert Altman, who also went 0-for-5 in the directing category.
Eastwood, who at 74 became the oldest directing winner ever, noted his mother was with him when his Western "Unforgiven" won the 1992 best-picture and directing Oscar.
"She's here with me again tonight, so at 96, I'm thanking her for her genes," Eastwood said. "I figure I'm just a kid. I've got a lot of stuff to do yet."
Swank became a double Academy Award winner Sunday for "Million Dollar Baby," while Jamie Foxx took lead actor for "Ray." The wins for Freeman and Foxx made it only the second time African-Americans won two of the four acting prizes.
Swank, who previously won the best actress Oscar for "Boys Don't Cry," once again beat out main rival Annette Bening, nominated for the theater farce "Being Julia." Bening had been the front-runner for "American Beauty" five years ago but lost to underdog Swank.
"I don't know what I did in this life to deserve all this. I'm just a girl from a trailer park who had a dream," said Swank, who played an indomitable boxer.
Swank joined Vivien Leigh, Helen Hayes, Sally Field and Luise Rainer as the only actresses with a perfect track record at the Oscars: Two nominations and two wins.
Foxx won for his uncanny emulation of Ray Charles in "Ray." As he had at earlier awards triumphs, Foxx led the Oscar audience in a rendition of the call-and-response chant from Charles' 1959 hit "What'd I Say," whose funky electric-piano grooves play over the opening credits of "Ray."
"Give it up for Ray Charles and his beautiful legacy. And thank you Ray Charles for living," said Foxx, who climbed to Oscar glory after an early career built mainly on comedy, including his TV series "The Jamie Foxx Show" and the raunchy sex flick "Booty Call."
Foxx had been a double Oscar nominee, also picked in the supporting category for the hit man thriller "Collateral."
Playing Katharine Hepburn in "The Aviator," Blanchett had the spirit of the Oscars' most-honored actress on her side. Hepburn, the love of Hughes' life in the 1930s before she began her long romance with Spencer Tracy, earned 12 nominations and won a record four Oscars.
"Thank you, of course, to Miss Hepburn. The longevity of her career I think is inspiring to everyone," said Blanchett. She added thanks to "Aviator" director Scorsese, saying, "I hope my son will marry your daughter."
Oscar host Chris Rock said Blanchett was so convincing that Sidney Poitier, Hepburn's co-star in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," showed up at Blanchett's house for supper.
The wins by Freeman and Foxx followed Denzel Washington and Halle Berry's triumph three years ago for "Training Day" and "Monster's Ball," the only other time blacks claimed two acting Oscars.
"It means that Hollywood is continuing to make history," Freeman said backstage. "We're evolving with the rest of the world."
The superhero action comedy "The Incredibles" won the animated-feature prize, beating 2004's biggest box-office hit, the fairy-tale sequel "Shrek 2." It was the second-straight animated Oscar for Pixar Animation, which won a year ago for "Finding Nemo."
"I don't know what's more frightening, being watched by millions of people, or the hundreds of people that are going to be annoyed with me tomorrow for not mentioning them," said Brad Bird, writer-director of the "The Incredibles."
The latest win dabs salt on the Walt Disney Co.'s wounds over the looming expiration of its distribution deal for Pixar films, which ends after next year's "Cars." The back-to-back Oscars underscore Pixar's growing ascendance and the weakening position of animation pioneer Disney, which has yet to win the animated-feature Oscar with any of its homegrown films and whose biggest recent cartoon hits have all been made by Pixar.
Unlike last year, when "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" dominated the awards as expected and flat-out front-runners took all four acting prizes, the 77th Oscars shaped up as a mixed bag, with only Foxx a virtual lock to win.
"Boy, am I glad there wasn't a fourth episode of 'Lord of the Rings,'" said John Dykstra, who shared the visual-effects Oscar for "Spider-Man 2."
With no huge hits among top nominees, Oscar organizers worried that TV ratings could dwindle for the live ABC broadcast. The Oscars tend to draw their biggest audiences when blockbusters such as "Titanic" or "Return of the King" are in the mix, stoking viewer interest.
Producers of the show hoped the presence of first-time host Rock might boost ratings, particularly among younger viewers who may view the Oscars as too staid an affair. Rock had mocked the Oscars a bit beforehand, calling awards shows "idiotic," but he was on his best behavior in his opening monologue.
Rock chided some celebrities by name and included one mild three-letter word, but his routine was fairly clean for the comedian known for a foul mouth in his standup act.
"The only acting you ever see at the Oscars is when people act like they're not mad they lost," Rock said. He recalled the year when Halle Berry won and fellow nominee "Nicole Kidman was smiling so wide, she should have won an Emmy at the Oscars for her great performance. I was like, if you'd done that in the movie, you'd have won an Oscar, girl."
Organizers also tried to spice up the show with new presentation tactics, including herding all nominees on stage at the same time, beauty-pageant style, for some awards.
The first prize of the night, for art direction, was awarded that way, with a total of nine nominees from five films spread across stage behind presenter Berry. The Oscar went to "The Aviator," whose awards also included cinematography, film editing and costume design.
"The Sea Inside" won as best foreign-language film, while "Born Into Brothels," which examines the lives of children of prostitutes in Calcutta, India, received the Oscar for feature-length documentary.
